Detroit has always been a gritty city, a place of grime and gumption—not as tame as more esthète metropolises like Los Angeles, Miami or even New York, which has become gentrified nearly beyond recognition. So it’s not surprising that the Motor City spawned the in-your-face sounds of MC5, Iggy & the Stooges, The White Stripes, Eminem, Kid Rock and Motown. Lately, though, Detroit could be compared to a heavyweight fighter who’s on his last rubbery leg: staggered and woozy but not quite knocked out.
Why all the talk about Detroit? Well, it’s because Park City restaurateur Bill White, who hails originally from Michigan, has, with his newest venture, Billy Blanco’s, created a vibrant homage to the Motor City—a place of fast machines, no-nonsense food and loud music.

Don't Forget About Italy's White Wines
by Ted Scheffler
Italy is justifiably renowned for its red wines: big bold Barolos, Chianti, Amarone, Barbaresco, Sangiovese and the like. But don’t overlook the white wines of Italy. There are many great ones, and high-quality whites from Italy can be pretty economical, especially compared to German and French counterparts.

by ted scheffler
Park City is best known for skiing, not sushi. However, that may soon change. Two of the best contemporary Asian restaurants I’ve ever set foot in are located in Utah’s glitzy ski town. One is new; the other has been around a while. Both are well worth an excursion to Park City.
